The 2013 Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) brings to bear the perspective of 19 global organisations on studying and combatting data breaches in the modern world, across a mix of industries.

The report analyses more than 47,000 reported security incidents and 621 data breaches from the last year and was produced by Verizon Risk.

The study results remind uys that breaches are a mulitfaceted problem and any one dimensional attemtp to describe and combat them fails to adequately capture their complexity.
