Microsoft Licensing Changes - Wave 15

Microsoft have just confirmed that the new Wave 15 product set will be available on the Volume License price lists from 1st December and that there will be a number of licensing changes. These changes are a mix of version consolidation, suite changes and price uplifts.Below are the key changes, but as always will vary depending on your current situation. We therefore would urge you to give us a call so that we can clarify things for you and advise on the best steps to take – there is an opportunity to buy licenses this month with Software Assurance (SA) and gain the rights to the new Wave 15 products at today's prices.
The Changes
As previously communicated - User CALs will incur a 15% price increase on 1st December. In addition these major changes will also take place as the following new products become available on 1st December:
SharePoint 2013
Change: SharePoint Server is moving to just one version Price: Increase of circa 38% compared to SharePoint 2010
Lync Server 2013*
Change: Consolidated to one edition from previous Standard and Enterprise versions.Price: Increased up to 400% when compared to Lync 2010 Standard Server – dependent upon your Volume Licensing agreementAction: URGENT: Purchase Lync Standard with Software Assurance before the end of November.
*Skype IM/P/voice/video included in all CALs and USLs
Visio 2013
Change: Visio Premium will be retired in favour of Visio Professional.Price: Visio Standard increased by circa 20%, Visio Professional increased by 5%.Action: Special Offer: Visio Pro Step-up will decrease for a limited time by 20%.
Project 2013
Price: Project Standard and Professional increasing by circa 5%.Price: Project Server increasing by 15%.Action: Special Offer: Project Step-Up price will decrease for a limited time by 5%.
Office 365
Change: New hosted products include Visio and Project.Price: Increase of between 5% and 8% dependent upon your purchase plan.Action: Speak to Bytes about this promotion on licenses and deployment.
Office 2013 (on premise)
Change: Suite changes - Commercial Use Subscription available for Mobile Devices.Price: No change.
Exchange Server 2013
Change: No more External Connector.Price: No change.
Enterprise CAL Suite
Change: License Realignment Forefront UAG CAL will be removed from ECAL 3.0.Change: Exchange Online Archiving taken out of the Exchange Enterprise CAL but added into eCAL Suite or available as an "add-on".Change: Exchange Online Protection and DLP will be added into the Exchange Enterprise CAL.
Note: There will be changes for Public Sector customers but the exact pricing is unconfirmed. Please call us to discuss.
