Symantec Continue to Grow Their Enterprise Mobility Portfolio

Friday 15th July 2016

On 16 April 2012, Symantec Corp. announced that it has completed the acquisition of Nukona, an innovative mobile application management (MAM) company. The acquisition extends Symantec's extensive enterprise mobility portfolio to include a cross-platform mobile application protection solution, to help IT organizations protect and isolate corporate data and applications across both corporate owned and personally owned devices. The addition of Nukona compliments Symantec's earlier acquisition of Odyssey Software. Odyssey provides the mobile device management (MDM) core to enroll and manage all necessary device settings across a broad range of platforms, while Nukona provides an innovative approach to seamlessly deploy, secure and control applications, without requiring the enterprise to manage the devices. By bringing together cross-platform mobile device and application management, Symantec will offer one of the broadest solution-sets to truly solve the 'Bring Your Own Device' (BYOD) use-case.For customers interested in mobile solutions, this acquisition helps to address corporate data security concerns around data leakage, encryption and authentication on a per-application basis, for both BYOD and corporate owned devices. Another software product in Symantec's mobile management portfolio is Symantec Mobile Management for Configuration Manager (formerly Odyssey Athena), a scalable MDM solution that enterprises can rely on to enable, secure and manage iOS, Android and Windows Mobile devices. SMM enables enterprise-wide mobile email and application rollouts, safeguards mobile data and devices and provides comprehensive visibility and control of the mobile environment. Integrated with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), SMM provides the scalability and robustness for enterprises to mobilize with confidence.
