Murgitroyd wanted to explore the possibility of deploying Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), as an alternative option to their remote access needs. As their on-premises Citrix platform, which was coming up for license renewal, was posing a significant cost increase.
Switching from Citrix to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) was a game-changer for our organisation. AVD delivered significantly better performance, was easier to manage, and saved us money. The decision to move to Azure Virtual Desktop, rather than renewing their Citrix license, aligned with their overall IT strategy, as Murgitroyd were keen to modernise their IT estate by moving more of their IT infrastructure to Azure over time. By transitioning to AVD, they anticipated seamless integration with their existing Azure Services, therefore fostering a more cohesive, and centrally managed environment.
In addition, the flexibility of Azure meant that their employees could access necessary resources from any location, facilitating a more dynamic and responsive workforce.
The decision was also driven by Azure’s robust security features, which offers advanced threat protection and compliance with industry standards, ensuring the safety, and integrity of their critical company data.
