As part of our ongoing commitment to social value and community impact, Bytes is proud to have partnered with South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) to support care leavers as they take their next steps into education and employment.
Working closely with the council’s ITD team, we were able to allocate funding to provide 10 tablet devices and keyboards to young people leaving care in South Gloucestershire. These devices are intended to help them stay connected, pursue further education, and access career opportunities.
Chris Laidler, Team Lead Public Sector Sales at Bytes and SGC's Account Manager, recently visited the council’s Badminton Road offices to personally hand over the devices and meet with Petros Careswell, the Service Manager overseeing care leavers. During the visit, Chris had the opportunity to hear directly from some of the recipients, whose stories were both moving and inspiring.
Among the care leavers supported:
All expressed heartfelt thanks for the technology, highlighting the difference it will make in their personal and professional journeys.
Reflecting on the experience, Chris Laidler said:
“I had the privilege of visiting South Gloucestershire Council to deliver technology to a specially selected group of care leavers who are embarking on the next steps in their adult lives. Listening to their journeys and knowing that Bytes and I have contributed to their future is truly rewarding. It’s times like these that show the private and public sector working in tandem to make a difference.”
We’re honoured to support South Gloucestershire Council’s Social Value policy and look forward to continuing our collaboration to empower more young people in the community.
