2022 Veeam Per-socket License End-of-sale Announcement

Monday 25th October 2021

Veeam® is on a mission to provide their customers with simple, flexible, reliable and powerful Modern Data Protection with an easy-to-use license that works for an ever-expanding set of workloads including cloud, virtual, physical, NAS and more. They launched Veeam Universal License (VUL) back in 2019 to prepare for this next phase of multi-cloud workload support, and the adoption has outpaced expectations.

To continue this mission, effective July 1, 2022, the sale of per-socket perpetual licenses for Veeam Backup & Replication™, Veeam Availability Suite™, Veeam Backup Essentials™ and Veeam ONE™ will cease to both new and existing customers for all editions.

For Veeam Backup Essentials customers, there is a new and easier way to migrate and renew licenses called ‘Veeam Backup Essentials Express Migration’. More details on this subject to follow soon.

We are confident that this change will help you to get the best of Veeam solutions. Providing a smooth experience for our customers is our top priority. If you have any queries or concerns that you wish to address, please reach out and we will assist you with any preparations or questions.

Note: Sockets only cover VMware/Hyper-V VMs. In a socket/VUL mixed environment, VUL can only be used for everything else. After July 1, 2022, if additional backup is needed for VMware/Hyper-V VMs, migration to VUL is necessary.

¹ Veeam ONE migrates to Veeam Availability Suite VUL, all other offerings migrate to their VUL equivalent.
² New customers may only purchase Enterprise Plus edition per socket licenses for Veeam Availability Suite/Veeam Backup & Replication, any edition of Veeam Backup Essentials, and Veeam ONE with Production support. Existing customers may purchase more sockets at the edition and support level of what they already own.
