End of Support for Check Point

Important Check Point End of Support Reminder - UTM, Power-1, DLP and VSX Appliances

Over 20 commonly used appliances go End of Engineering Support in just over 6 months.

If you currently operate VSX-1, UTM-1, DLP-1 or Power-1 Series appliances, now is the time to speak to Bytes about planning their replacement to avoid support issues and ensure continued performance of your Check Point infrastructure from April 1st.

Many customers know that the End of Life for these appliances is Spring 2017, but are not aware the End of Engineering Support is in 6 months. After this date hardware support is limited to best efforts (regardless of original support contract SLA) with no bug fixes or upgrades . Depending on your service expectations we recommend replacing appliances before April.

A simple one page checklist showing affected appliances, our guide to replacement paths and end of support timings can be found here

Replacement options

Affected customers are encouraged to migrate to Check Point 2012 Appliances. Built on the Check Point Software Blades Architecture, these offer more robust and scalable security capabilities, as well as:

  • x3 Performance boost compared to predecessors
  • More security - FULL Software Blades support on all appliances
  • GAiA – 1 unified OS with best features from IPSO and SecurePlatform
  • Extendible and serviceable hardware supporting variety of network interface options and Lights-Out-Management
  • Advanced acceleration technologies with the Security Acceleration Module
