Free Extended Security Updates for Windows Server 2008 / Server 2008 R2

Monday 20th January 2020

Support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 has now ended. Comprehensive upgrades can be a time-consuming process for many organisations. To ensure that you can continue to protect your workloads, you can take advantage of three years of free extended security updates, this will provide you with critical and important security updates for your Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 servers, only on Azure.

Azure offers several lift and shift options. Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 apps can be migrated to any of the following options and then upgraded to Windows Server 2019 or Windows Server 2016.

•    Migrate to Azure Virtual Machines
•    Run Windows Server hosted on VMware natively in Azure using Azure VMWare Solutions
•    For those of you who require dedicated compute due to compliance requirements, take advantage of Azure Dedicated Host

Our Cloud Architects can help you assess, prioritise, and begin migrating existing virtualised workloads to Azure, including VMware solutions.

For apps and services that need to run on-premises on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2, Extended Security Updates can be purchased through an Enterprise Agreement. Please talk to your account manager for more information regarding Extended Security Updates.
