Office 365 ProPlus System Requirements

Tuesday 24th July 2018

Office 365 ProPlus will not be supported on Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel (SAC) versions that are no longer being serviced per the Windows 10 lifecycle. Office 365 ProPlus will be supported on Windows 10 versions in active and in supplemental support.

Effective 14th January 2020 Office 365 ProPlus will no longer be supported on the following versions of Windows.

• Any Windows 10 LTSC release
• Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2, and 2016
• Windows 8.1 or prior

This will ensure that both Office and Windows receive regular, coordinated updates to provide the most secure environment with the latest capabilities.

Office 365 ProPlus or Office perpetual in mainstream support are required to connect to Office 365 services starting 13th October 2020. Office 365 ProPlus will deliver the best experience, but for customers who aren’t ready to move to the cloud by 2020, Microsoft will also support connections from Office perpetual in mainstream support.

• Applies to Office 365 commercial services only. This update does not change the system requirements or support policies for the Office perpetual clients, Office perpetual clients connecting to on-premises servers, or any consumer services.

• Until this new requirement goes into effect in 2020, Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016 perpetual clients will still be able to connect to Office 365 services.

• After this date only Office 365 ProPlus or Office 2019 will be able to connect to commercial Office 365 services. Office 2016 mainstream support ends on 13th October 2020.
