Windows 7 Extended Security Updates Included in M365 E5

Tuesday 10th March 2020

From 1st June 2019 to 14th January 2020, Microsoft offered a promotion in which EA customers with E5 were able to receive rights to Windows 7 Year 1 Extended Security Updates (ESU) at no additional cost.

Microsoft are introducing a new programmatic inclusion of Windows 7 Year 1 ESU with Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E5 Security, or Microsoft 365 F1 Security + Compliance Software Licenses (SLs) effective from 1st March 2020 through 31st December 2020.

•    Under this new program, EA and EAS customers that commit to Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E5 Security, or Microsoft 365 F1 Security + Compliance (promo) USLs will receive rights to Windows 7 Year 1 ESU for no additional costs. Customers who purchase these qualifying SKUs prior to March 1, 2020, will also receive Windows 7 Year 1 ESU for no additional cost. Customers must maintain the qualifying SKU through the end of the Year 1 ESU period (Jan 12, 2021) to benefit from the continuity of the included Windows 7 Year 1 ESU.
