Headquartered in Aalst, Belgium, Corex specialises in custom, sustainable packaging, which includes manufacturing cardboard cores, tubes and edge protectors. The business employees around 1,300 people and has operations across Europe and China. It’s also part of the €1.8 billion turnover VPK Group, which is a leading player in sustainable, circular solutions for packaging. The company boasts the lowest CO₂ emissions in the sector.
Corex wanted to centralise its device management and patching – moving to a unified solution and away from its fragmented security legacy set-up.
Corex recognised that Microsoft Intune was a better fit for the business. Switching device management to Intune could enable a secure and compliant baseline aligned with Microsoft best practices. Enrolling all devices into Microsoft Defender for Endpoint would complete the picture for Corex. As a result, the business would gain centralised visibility, control and enhanced security across their IT estate within the Microsoft ecosystem.
However, Corex’s IT team lacked the resources needed for a successful migration. That’s where Bytes stepped in.
Bytes provided invaluable knowledge and expertise to help us migrate our estate to Intune and Defender. Using their skills, we were able to overcome the challenges of a small team and a geographically-dispersed network. We were able to avoid pitfalls and common issues with solid planning and experience
Taking a collaborative approach, Bytes worked with the Corex team to clarifying the company’s objectives, specific requirements and the scope of work. This ensured expectations were aligned – as the project gathered pace.
Next, Bytes carried out an in-depth assessment of Corex’s existing environment. From this, the Bytes experts created a design document with recommendations for optimum results, in line with Microsoft best practices. Training from Bytes helped the IT team get up to speed with their new tools and workflows.
After a successful pilot project, Bytes completed the full rollout – with around 350 devices brought into Intune. The migration went smoothly without impacting employees’ productivity. This was thanks to careful planning and testing.
Migrating to Microsoft Intune with Bytes has delivered major advantages for Corex.
Stronger security and compliance: Now Corex can be confident its devices are running on a modern, supported solution with improved security and performance features. Standardised configuration policies and security baselines ensure all devices are aligned with best practices. Also, devices are now patched centrally via Intune. As a result, Corex is better positioned to meet internal and external compliance requirements across its IT estate.
Increased control and efficiency: The IT team now has a centralised platform for managing all devices, reducing complexity and saving time. Cleaning up legacy configurations and consolidating policies has made the environment easier to manage and troubleshoot. What’s more, Corex’s previous security software was decommissioned ahead of its renewal date – saving money for the business.
Greater scalability and future readiness: With a modern Intune set-up, Corex is well positioned to adopt future Microsoft technologies and updates. The scalable framework, new baselines and structure can support future growth and allow new devices to be onboarded easily.
Positive experiences: Bytes’ know-how made the difference here too. The smooth rollout and seamless transition minimised disruption to hundreds of Corex employees. They now benefit from a consistent and secure experience across all devices.
